Baxter Lake is a good place of common rain; the month with most of the rain is June while January is mostly the driest month.       Whitewater paddling is not for everybody but if it's for you then we recommend Tioga River, and there are glorious places to explore along the Roe Trail. There's some flowing water close by, Bill Hess Creek is a stream you can go to during your stay, and Corning Inn is a glorious site to get some rest. If you came to camp Sackriders Redhouse Campground is a pleasant place to do that, and not far from Baxter Lake you'll come across Hammond Lake which is a scenic lake. There's so much to do here at Baxter Lake that you need to camp here for a while, Watkins Den Campgrounds is a great location for that, and if you're here you can play some golf at Indian Hills Golf Club. Summertime highs at Baxter Lake regularly tend to be in the 80's. Throughout the dark hours of summer temperatures descend down into the 50's.
