This is a delightful region for people who like lakes. Loon Lake is a lake nearby; after a long day outdoors Best Western Mountain Lake Inn is a great spot to spend a night or two. This lake is so wonderful. You'll need more than a day to look at everything Bass Lake has to offer, you can camp at Donaldson George A and Sons; nice hiking is available along the McKenzie Pond Trail. Really great skiing awaits you at Mount Pisgah, and you acquire a pleasant panorama

some nice whitewater, and why not visit nearby Elbow Brook while you're here at Bass Lake. So many fun things to do in the Adirondack Mountains, not enough time. If you're here at Bass Lake, do take a visit to Horse Head Point, and
you can stay the night at Pioneer Village. Whitewater paddling is not for everyone but if it's for you then we recommend Salmon River, and hiking is a popular thing to do around Bass Lake; Silver Lake Mountain Trail is a delightful
local trail. This lake is one of the great places here in the Adirondack Mountains. This spot, the Adirondack Mountains, has so much outdoors fun stuff. Lakes are tremendous; Catamount Pond is a lake that's close to Bass Lake,
and THE HOTEL SARANAC is a wonderful location to get some rest. This lake is so wonderful. There's no such thing as a bad day of skiing at nearby Whiteface Mountain, and there's great hiking along the Schwartz Trail.

Silver lake mountain trail head is found on Silver lake Road, which intersects with NY Route 3 about 23 miles west of Plattsburgh [near Clayburg]. Go south on Silver Lake Road for about 10 miles, find the marked trailhead on the left side of the road. This is a short somewhat steep hike with a beautiful view from the top. Well worth the effort....Silver Lake Mt. is a glorious hike. Its not too difficult for the amateur hikers and has a few trails off to the side that are a bit more difficult and fun for the experienced hikers. Its a great place for a family or business day retreat and provides phenomenal views of the North Countries natural beauty. Enjoy the trail but remember to keep it clean and well maintained.
