Lakes are such serene spots, why not stop at Deer Lake right next door to Basket Pond, and great hiking is available along the Schiff Trail. Basket Pond really is in the middle of a striking outdoors paradise. Basket Pond is a tremendous location to visit for more than one day, Beaver-del Campsites is a tremendous location to camp nearby, and Mount Tone is a very popular ski area       around here. There are some perfect whitewater spots on Callicoon Creek - East Branch, and Villa Roma Resort Lodges is a good site to get some rest. This lake is so wonderful. A great deal of rain falls at Basket Pond; most of the rain falls through May, and the driest month of the year is February. Dry Brook is a beautiful stream that is worth going to, and dry warm beds await you at The Lodge at Woodloch. Throughout the summertime highs here at Basket                  Pond get into the 80's while night lows are mostly in the 50's. High temperatures through the winter are normally in the 30's while Basket Pond night low temperatures during the wintertime are in the 10's. Get yourself into a kayak and hit Callicoon Creek - North Branch, and Gould Pond is a splendid lake close by. The peak of Big Fork Mountain can be made out from Basket Pond.
