The best way to spend a winter day is on the slopes of nearby Gore Mountain, and after a long day outdoors Courtyard Lake Placid is a great spot to spend a night or two. There's no way anybody can get bored here in the Adirondack Mountains. Get your pulse rate up on the magnificent whitewater of Boreas River - Upper, and Big Sherman Pond is a nearby lake that you could go to.       So much cool stuff to do in the Adirondack Mountains, not enough time. Going for a hike along the Van Hoevenberg Trail will let you absorb the natural beauty of this area; Green Mountain is trouble-free to spot from Barnes Pond. All through the summertime months, highs usually are in the 70's at Barnes Pond while night lows are ordinarily in the 50's. Daytime highs through the winter are in the 20's, and winter nights come with lows in the 0's to Barnes Pond.                  Barnes Pond is a beautiful lake in the Adirondack Mountains. An average amount of rain falls at Barnes Pond; the month of August is the wettest with most of the rain while February is regularly the driest month.
