At Barnes Lake you always meet someone from Utica-Rome, and you can go for a hike on the Stone Dam Trail. Barnes Lake is a delightful place to visit for more than one day, Cold Brook Campsites is a delightful place to camp nearby; a round of golf at nearby Woodgate Pines Golf Club is a good way to kill some time. What a site this is for outdoors people. Really glorious skiing awaits you at Snow Ridge, and       there are some magnificent whitewater spots on Moose River. Barnes Lake gets a typical amount of precipitation; during the month of August you get the most rain around here, and February is the month with the least moisture. This lake is so wonderful. There's whitewater on Black River for all you thrill seekers, and there's good hiking along the Twin Lakes Trail. Moose River Camp Grounds is a good local campground, and dry warm beds await you at Wingate By                  Wyndham Rome. This lake is so wonderful. You can never get enough of the good skiing at Woods Valley. For the period of the days of summer highs here at Barnes Lake reach the 70's while night lows are typically in the 50's. The wintertime brings highs down to the 20's while the cold winter nights at Barnes Lake are in the 0's.
