Go for a hike on the Twin Lakes Trail, and if you like skiing, you're in luck; Snow Ridge is rather near. Cropsey Creek is one of the streams nearby that might be worth stopping at; Barnes Lake is a location with many visitors from Utica-Rome. This lake is so wonderful. You can run the rapids of Black River in the vicinity       of Barnes Lake; a day on the slopes of Woods Valley is just what you need. Summertime brings highs in the 70's to Barnes Lake, and during the night it cools down to the 50's. The winter brings highs down to the 20's, and through the dark hours in the wintertime at Barnes Lake temperatures sink to the 0's. Camping is available at Cold Brook Campsites, and you're in all probability interested in lakes, Buck Lake is one of those nearby. This lake is so wonderful.                  Lakes are fine; Poplar Pond is a lake that's close to Barnes Lake, and near Barnes Lake you discover a golf course called Woodgate Pines Golf Club.
