This lake is one of the great places here in the Adirondack Mountains. Going for a hike on the Dividing Ridge Trail is always a great adventure; get yourself into a kayak and hit Boreas River. And that's not everything there is to do here in the Adirondack Mountains. Go for a hike on the Indian Pass Trail, and you can never get enough of the tremendous skiing at Gore Mountain. This lake is so wonderful.       From Balfour Lake you get a good vista of Balfour Mountain, and lakes are such peaceful locations, why not pop by Twentyninth Pond. Yep, outdoors amusing stuff to do are truly abundant here at Balfour Lake. Don't leave Balfour Lake without first paying a visit to Hewitt Eddy, and Rankin Pond is a brilliant lake close by. Balfour Lake is a good place of common rainfall; the month of August is the wettest with most of the rain, and the driest of the months is                  February. This lake is so wonderful. Some close by water includes Stony Pond Brook, and dry warm beds await you at Courtyard Lake Placid. So much cool stuff in the Adirondack Mountains, just tremendous. There is a pleasant hiking trail near Balfour Lake called the Elk Lake Marcy Trail; you can stay the night at Smoke Rise Campsites. Balfour Lake is a pleasant place to visit for more than one day, Cedar Pond Campground is a pleasant place to camp nearby, and if you come at the right time of year, Boreas River - Upper offers some wonderful whitewater. Summertime highs at Balfour Lake commonly tend to be in the 70's. For the duration of the dark hours of summer temperatures fall down into the 50's.
