     Take a little tour to Bailey Brook since you're here at Bakwin Pond, and paddling on Moodna Creek is so much fun. During the warm days of summer at Bakwin Pond temperatures are frequently in the 80's. Once the sun is down it drops down to the 60's. During the winter this place gets highs in the 30's; overnight lows at Bakwin Pond during the winter generally fall into the 10's. Not far from Bakwin Pond, you'll discover Vernay Lake which is a pretty lake, and  
   Popolopen Creek has a glorious whitewater paddling spot close by. This lake is so wonderful. You get a magnificent view of Bald Mountain from Bakwin Pond; Bakwin Pond is right by the Suffern-Bear Mountain Trail.
At Bakwin Pond you always meet someone from Poughkeepsie-Newburgh-Middletown. If you want a perfect time in the great outdoors, just come on down to Bakwin Pond. A wonderful close by hotel is Edith Macy Conference Center; the Stillwell Lake Trail
 
               offers hiking at its best. Bakwin Pond is a relatively wet place mostly with much rain; the month with most of the rain is July; February is when it's the driest.
A wonderful place to camp here at Bakwin Pond is Camp Echo Lake, and hiking is a popular thing to do around Bakwin Pond; Appalachian National Scenic Trail is a fine local trail. An afternoon playing golf at Trump National Golf Club is always a delight, and camping at Camp Discovery is always a perfect experience. This lake is so wonderful. Since you might be in a lake visiting mood you can always have a look at nearby Miller Pond; after a long day outdoors Comfort Inn & Suites is a brilliant place to spend a night or two.

Do you have any pictures of camp henry?  My father went there in the 1920's.  The land was sold a while ago and now has a housing development on it....Lillian Wald had a camp on secor lake .Camp Henry.i am fortune enough to have been born on the block where Lillian started the henry street settlement. I am a 49yr who spent 10 summers of my life on lake secor 67-76..Actually I live in the settlement for 3 1/2 yrs. Amazing!...

...dge rd.back in the late sixties ,and every Christmas the people of the surrounding lk. There were none on the east side of the lake at the time. Well we would collect our Christmas trees around fifty or so and dig them into the ice about forty ft apart and make two rows . Then we would all set a time and light em,, and we would skate , fish ,whatever the lines of trees ran from the n.west dock to the east..the clam bakes were held at the other lk..haven just up the stream that ran along my house..After the dam broke from lk haven the water flooded down into our house..What a flood..seems after that we sold the house to a fireman ,,and then our course by accident the house burnt down ,,and I thought fireman were supposed to put out fires not start em .hello to all that still prevail on chestnut ridge. yea I also went to school with Henry Winkler.. And back then we used to trick or treat all the way down to route six..camp sycamore well I still have my green card with the red paper wonder if its still good..the camp was but a lake with a cottage or two..and a cool as heck dirt road..I ...

Torne Mount Ivy Trail

Locally, and on the NYNJTC maps, this is known as the Tuxedo-Mount Ivy Trail. There is a 'Hillburn-Torne-Sabago' trail that ends at the middle of the TMI. These are both in Harriman State Park. I'm not quite sure what the reference to 'Robert Moses' is all about, except perhaps the state park on Long Island, about equidistant, but in the opposite direction, from NYC-Newark-Edison. Gateway National Recreation Area, although very nice, is also nowhere near this trail....
