If you are in this part of New York make sure to pay a visit to Avalanche Lake. You completely have to fancy Avalanche Lake. Get your heart beating on the wonderful whitewater of Ausable River - West Branch. A nice spot in the vicinity of Avalanche Lake is Avalanche Pass, and the Indian Pass Trail is a wonderful hiking trail close by. And if that's not enough there's heaps more amusing stuff to do in the Adirondack Mountains. You'll need more than a day to explore

| | everything Avalanche Lake has to offer, you can camp at Whispering Pines Campground, and at Avalanche Lake you can see Algonquin Peak. Dry warm beds await you at Courtyard Lake Placid; close by you come across the Hopkins Trail which is a tremendous hiking trail. This lake is so wonderful. Mount Pisgah is a very popular ski area in close proximity, and if you get bored of Avalanche Lake you could also stop at nearby Calamity Pond. Yep, outdoors entertaining | |

things to do are beyond doubt bountiful here at Avalanche Lake. If you need a site to stay Econo Lodge Lake Placid is a great choice, and needless to say Cold Brook flows through this vicinity. Now, you may think that's plenty
but there's even more exciting stuff to do here in the Adirondack Mountains. Whiteface Mountain has good slopes and a friendly staff; if you're here you must stop at Beaver Point. The Adirondack Mountains scenery is always beautiful.
This lake is so wonderful. There's always Marcy Dam to stop by next to Avalanche Lake. There's so much to do here at Avalanche Lake that you need to camp here for a while, Adirondak Loj is a glorious place for that. Summer brings
highs in the 70's to Avalanche Lake. Once the sun is down it dips down to the 50's. High temperatures during the winter are normally in the 20's with winter lows in the 0's overnight here at Avalanche Lake. A normal amount of precipitation
falls here at Avalanche Lake; the month of August is the wettest with most of the rain while February is the month with the least amount of precipitation. A great site for whitewater paddling right next door to Avalanche Lake is John's Brook; if the weather is great, you can go for a hike along the Van Hoevenberg Trail.
