Lake Altamont is a very beautiful lake in beautiful surroundings. There is a glorious hiking trail in close proximity to Lake Altamont called the Vernooy Falls Trail; after a long day outdoors VALLEY BROOK INN AND COTTAGES is a perfect site to spend a night or two. This lake is so wonderful. If you come at the right time of year, Neversink River offers some good whitewater, and Wurtsboro - Days Inn is a tremendous spot to get some rest.

| | For you golfers we recommend close by Wallkill Golf Club, and a wonderful place to camp here at Lake Altamont is Rainbow Valley Campground. No way I can stop, cause I'm havin' a pleasant time here at Lake Altamont. Head up to Holiday Mountain and strap some skis to your feet, and if you're looking for some flowing water? Try Little Shawangunk Kill. Mt. Peter is a very popular ski area close by; lakes are such serene places, why not stop by Monhagen Lake.

temperatures at Lake Altamont through the days of summer are in the 70's; the overnight is rather chillier of course, ordinarily in the 50's. The wintertime brings highs down to the 20's, and winter nights come with lows in the 10's
to Lake Altamont. On a fine day at Lake Altamont you can take a hike along the Peenpack Trail, and soar down the rapids of Sandburg Creek in a kayak. Lake Altamont usually gets lots of precipitation; the wettest month of the year
is commonly May, that's the one that rains the most, and February is when it's the driest.
The Comfort Trail is a good hiking trail in the neighborhood of Lake Altamont; Lake Altamont is splendid enough to spend more than a day at, Korn's Shawangunk is a splendid local campground.
