I was born in Margaretville on May 16, 1938 and as far back as I can remember, my dad, Bryan Burgin would take me fishing at this lake numerous times during the summers - The last time I was there would have been the summer of 1955 - I have a copy of the book ''Alder Lake'' by Joshua Gerow - that the Fuelane Company gave to dad in 1960 and was passed down to me - looking at the pictures of the lake and the large stone house brought tears to my eyes - thank you for being on the web and returning me if only in my mind to a very beautiful past -

What a nice lake Alder Lake is. This lake is so wonderful. If you need a place to stay Howard Johnson Inn Liberty NY is a pleasant choice; Alder Lake is a perfect spot to visit for more than one day, Boy Scouts Of America is a perfect spot to camp nearby. If you like skiing, you're in luck; Belleayre is in the neighborhood of Alder Lake, and hiking along the Seager West Branch Trail is great fun. | | into the 70's while overnight lows are frequently in the 50's. During the wintertime the highs are usually in the 30's, and after the sun is down during the winter temperatures at Alder Lake sink into the 10's.
Alder Lake sees pretty high levels of precipitation; May is the wettest month with most rain while February is generally the driest month. Days Inn Of Liberty is a tremendous place to get some rest, and Willowemoc Campgrounds is a glorious campground | |

This lake is located in the wonderful Catskill Mountains. And that's not all you can do here in the Catskill Mountains. Ski Plattekill is a great local ski area, and you can run the rapids of Mill Brook.
