Good hiking is available along the Elko Hamilton Stage Route; Boyd Reservoir Dam is a striking spot. During the summer months highs here at Sandhill Reservoir get into the 90's. All through the dark hours       of summer temperatures descend down into the 50's. The cold days of the wintertime come with highs in the 30's while the cold winter nights at Sandhill Reservoir are in the 10's. Hiking is a popular thing to do around Sandhill Reservoir; Smith Creek Trail is a brilliant local trail, and an afternoon playing golf at Spring Creek Golf Course is always a delight.
