Marlette Reservoir is mostly a relatively arid spot; of all the months in a year January is the                  one with the most snow, and the driest month of the year is July. But wait, there's more enjoyable stuff to do in the Northern Sierra Nevada. Northstar at Tahoe is a fine local ski area; a spree to nearby Sand Harbor is very relaxing. Summertime at Marlette Reservoir comes with high temperatures in the 80's with overnight lows in the 30's. The cold days of the winter come with highs in the 40's while the cold winter nights at Marlette Reservoir are in the 0's. This lake is so wonderful. Near Marlette Reservoir you discover tremendous sites like Little Valley, and you're sure to encounter some great folks from Gardnerville Ranchos here. This lake is so wonderful. Camping at Mount Rose Campground is always a delightful experience, and nearby you discover the Pacific Crest Trail - section 14 which is a magnificent hiking trail. If you like skiing, you're in luck; Heavenly is in the vicinity of Marlette Reservoir, and Marlette Reservoir is good enough to spend more than a day at, Clear Creek Campground is a good local campground. This lake is so wonderful. Soar down the rapids of Truckee River in a kayak, and Hidden Beach is a beautiful beach to go to. You just can't imagine the amount of outdoors cool stuff the Northern Sierra Nevada has to offer. Summit Valley is a glorious spot to stretch your legs a bit, and there is a wonderful hiking trail close by called the Mount Rose Trail.
