Cold Lakes is always a pleasure to visit. This lake is so wonderful. The summit of Green Mountain can be seen from Cold Lakes, and the great people of Elko like to hang out nearby. Do set aside some time for Withington Basin if you're here at Cold Lakes, and on a fine day you can take a hike along the Ruby Crest Trail. Cold Lakes is pretty waterless frequently; most of the rain falls all through November, and the driest of the months is July.
