     Whitetail Lake is always a pleasure to visit. All the outdoors enjoyable stuff in the Sacramento Mountains will keep you coming back again and again. Here at Whitetail Lake there are plenty of folks from Alamogordo. All the outdoors enjoyable stuff close to Whitetail Lake will keep you coming back time and again. Camping at Cherokee Mobile Village is always a brilliant experience, and the Dry Mills Trail offers hiking at its best. During the summer highs here  
   at Whitetail Lake reach the 90's. Summer overnight lows dip down to the 60's. Through the wintertime this place gets highs in the 50's with temperatures at Whitetail Lake dipping down into the 20's during winter nights.
This lake is so wonderful. There's great hiking along the Cedar Creek Trail; if you came to camp Pine Ridge RV Campground is a pleasant place to do that. Dry warm beds await you at Holiday Inn Express Ruidoso, Nm, and the slopes of Ski Apache
 
               are so inviting nobody can resist. It is very arid here at Whitetail Lake usually; all through the month of August you get the most rain around here; the driest month of the year is April.
Not enough hours in a day to enjoy the Sacramento Mountains. Don't leave Whitetail Lake without first going for a hike along the Perk Ridge Trail, and do visit Whitetail Dam Number Five since you're here. The Sacramento Mountains scenery is always beautiful. If you need a place to stay Best Western Pine Springs Inn is a pleasant choice, and if you're here why not take a look at Pauls Canyon.
