Good hiking is available along the Perk Ridge Trail; Pauls Canyon is another great spot to check out       nearby. This lake is so wonderful. People from Alamogordo love to come to Whitetail Lake. Through the warm months, highs generally are in the 90's at Whitetail Lake, and during the night it cools down to the 60's. For the period of the winter highs are in the 50's; after the sun is down through the winter temperatures at Whitetail Lake sink into the 20's. And if that's not enough there's lots more exciting things to do in the Sacramento Mountains. There's                  good hiking along the Cedar Creek Trail, and Whitetail Lake is a perfect site to visit for more than one day, Pine Ridge RV Campground is a perfect site to camp nearby. At Whitetail Lake you don’t see much precipitation; the month of August is the wettest with most of the rain while April is ordinarily the driest month. You feel that's enough? Just getting warmed up. Lakes are wonderful; Burro Lake is a lake that's right next door to Whitetail Lake, and you can take a little visit to Whitetail Dam Number Five if you're here at Whitetail Lake. This lake is so wonderful. Hiking is a popular thing to do around Whitetail Lake; Dry Mills Trail is a glorious local trail. You'll need more than a day to look at everything Whitetail Lake has to offer, you can camp at Cherokee Mobile Village.
