You can never get enough of the tremendous skiing at Angel Fire, and hiking is a popular thing to do around Waterbird Lake; Burnt Ridge Trail is a great local trail. This lake is so wonderful. You're sure to come across some great folks from Taos here. If you want a splendid time in the great outdoors just come on up to the Sangre De Cristo Mountains. A tremendous       sight of beautiful Larkspur Peak is available from Waterbird Lake; the Lost Lake Trail offers hiking at its best. And if that's not sufficient, there's loads more to do near Waterbird Lake. There's so much to do here at Waterbird Lake that you need to camp here for a while, Italianos Campground is a good place for that; skiing at Red River is one of those things you just have to do. Waterbird Lake is ordinarily a relatively dehydrated spot; of all the months                  in a year August is the one with the most rain while February is the month with the least amount of precipitation. If you need a location to stay Sagebrush Inn is a great choice; Waterbird Lake is right by the Twining Blue Lake Trail. These mountains rock, just check out all the cool things to do in the Sangre De Cristo Mountains. After a long day outdoors Econo Lodge Eagle Nest is a nice site to spend a night or two, and since you might be in a lake visiting mood you can always check out close by Star Lake. This lake is one of the great places here in the Sangre De Cristo Mountains. You'll need more than a day to discover everything Waterbird Lake has to offer, you can camp at Twining Campground.
