What a nice lake Truchas Lakes is. This lake is one of the great places here in the Sangre De Cristo Mountains. This lake is so wonderful. A good nearby hotel is Taos Super 8 Motel. There's so much to do here at Truchas Lakes that you need to camp here for a while, Trampas Trailhead Campground is a nice place for that. So much exciting stuff to do in the Sangre De Cristo Mountains, not sufficient time. You could also check out Hidden Lake since you're here

| | at Truchas Lakes; it's nearby, and lovely scenery and fine skiing is what you get at Ski Santa Fe.
Rio Embudo is a glorious whitewater spot near Truchas Lakes, and a short spree to Rio Quemado Falls is always worthwhile. This lake is so wonderful. The Rio Medio Trail is a good hiking trail in the vicinity of Truchas Lakes. What would winter be without some skiing at Sipapu Ski; the view of Chimayosos Peak is beautiful.

bored here in the Sangre De Cristo Mountains. If the weather is magnificent here at Truchas Lakes, you can go for a hike along the Trampas Trail, and Truchas Lakes is delightful enough to spend more than a day at, Trampas Medio Campground
is a delightful local campground. Around Truchas Lakes you don’t get a lot of precipitation; the wettest month of the year is generally August, that's the one that rains the most, and February is the month with the least moisture.
For the period of the warm months here at Truchas Lakes, high temperatures typically get into the 80's while overnight lows are usually in the 50's. During the winter highs are generally in the 30's, and nighttime lows at Truchas
Lakes during the wintertime commonly plunge into the 0's.
Life's too short to enjoy all the fun stuff next to Truchas Lakes. There is a tremendous hiking trail near Truchas Lakes called the Santa Barbara Angostura Trail; a glorious place for whitewater paddling is Rio Santa Cruz.
