If you are traveling by, why not stop by Truchas Lakes. For the period of the summer highs here at Truchas Lakes reach the 80's. For the duration of the moonlight hours it's mostly in the 50's. Through the winter highs are in the 30's while Truchas Lakes nighttime low temperatures through the wintertime are in the 0's. Taos - Days Inn is a pleasant spot to get some rest. Hiking along the Rio Medio Trail is brilliant fun, and if you came for an overnight stay Trampas Trailhead Campground is a perfect place to camp. Quemado Falls is always worthwhile. Around Truchas Lakes you don’t get a lot of rain; August is when you get the most rain here; February on the other hand is the driest. Chimayosos Peak can be spotted from Truchas Lakes, and
a day on the slopes of Sipapu Ski is just what you need. Man, is there lots of cool things to do in the Sangre De Cristo Mountains. Whitewater paddling is not for everyone but if it's for you then we recommend Rio Santa Cruz; Trampas
Medio Campground is a perfect campground nearby. You just can't imagine the amount of outdoors exciting stuff the area next to Truchas Lakes has to offer. Going for a hike along the Santa Barbara Angostura Trail will let you absorb
the natural beauty of this vicinity, and if you like skiing, you're in luck; Ski Santa Fe is reasonably near.
