Spirit Lake is always a pleasure to visit. This lake is located in the wonderful Sangre De Cristo Mountains. Camping is available at Panchuela Campground; Santa Fe Baldy is pretty and can be seen from here. This lake is so wonderful. Why not camp at Cowles Campground since you're here at Spirit Lake, and you can have a great hiking adventure along the Winsor Trail.
That right there is a heap of exciting things already but it goes on, the Sangre De Cristo Mountains

| | has it all. Going for a hike along the Rio Capulin Trail will let you absorb the natural beauty of this area, and there are other places here than Spirit Lake, for example Lake Katherine. Here at Spirit Lake there are plenty of folks from Santa Fe, and Lake Johnson is a fine lake nearby. Be careful coming to the Sangre De Cristo Mountains, you might not ever want to return home again. Not much rainfall falls here at Spirit Lake; of all the months in a year August is the one with the most rain; the
driest month is February. While staying at Spirit Lake you could always look at Puerto Nambe. But wait, there's more to do close to Spirit Lake. If time allows, Santa Fe National Historic Trail is a national park worth a visit; dry
warm beds await you at Bishop's Lodge.
Throughout the summer highs here at Spirit Lake reach the 90's, and throughout the night it cools down to the 50's. High temperatures all through the wintertime are normally in the 40's;
night lows at Spirit Lake during the wintertime usually drop into the 10's. This lake is so wonderful. Paddling on Rio Santa Cruz is so much fun, and a day on the slopes of Ski Santa Fe is just what you need.
