This lake is located in the wonderful San Francisco Mountains. Don't leave Sawmill Pond without first going for a hike along the Escondido Trail, and not far from Sawmill Pond you'll locate Gabaldon Lake which is a gorgeous lake. For the duration of the summer at Sawmill Pond highs are generally in the 80's. For the period of the moonlight hours it's generally in the 50's. The cold days of the wintertime come       with highs in the 40's, and night lows at Sawmill Pond through the wintertime frequently drop into the 10's. This lake is so wonderful. There are good places to look at along the Leslie Spring Trail, and there are other places here than Sawmill Pond, for example Pine Lake. Quemado Lake Campground is a good campground nearby; if you have the time, El Morro National Monument is a national park worth checking out. Yeah, come up here to the San Francisco Mountains                  for a fine time. A good panorama of wonderful Mangas Mountain is available from Sawmill Pond, and you can stay the night at Armijo Campground. Be careful coming to the San Francisco Mountains, you might not ever want to go home again. You just can't picture the amount of outdoors enjoyable stuff the area close to Sawmill Pond has to offer. There's glorious hiking along the Sawmill Camp Trail, and a journey to Bear Well Spring will fill your soul with perfect feelings.
