For the period of the summertime here at Sawmill Lake, high temperatures frequently reach the 80's. Summer overnight lows fall down to the 40's. Daytime highs throughout the wintertime are in the 40's while Sawmill Lake overnight low temperatures through the wintertime are in the 10's. This lake is so wonderful. Sawmill Lake is great enough to spend more than a day at, Cathedral Rock       Campground is a great local campground; a nice site is Mares Canyon. If the weather is delightful, you obtain a great vista of Cooks Peak from Sawmill Lake; a tour to Fort Union National Monument is worthwhile. Sawmill Lake truly is in the middle of a beautiful outdoors paradise. It's a fine idea to pop by Bonita Creek, it's near Sawmill Lake, and do have a look at Caldwell Lake, it's a charming lake. Don't leave Sawmill Lake without first going for a hike                  along the Santa Fe Trail, and St James Hotel is a good location to get some rest. If you want a tremendous time in the great outdoors just come on up to the Sangre De Cristo Mountains. Gotta ski! Angel Fire is a good place to do that. Sawmill Lake gets very little rainfall; of all the months in a year July is the one with the most rain while January is generally the driest month.
