This lake is so wonderful. Fort Union National Monument is a delightful local destination here at Sawmill Lake; you can hit the slopes at Angel Fire close by. All the outdoors cool things in the Sangre De Cristo Mountains will keep you coming back again and again. A brilliant nearby hotel is Angel Fire Resort; why not camp at Cathedral Rock Campground while you're here at Sawmill Lake. Sawmill Lake truly is in the       middle of a stunning outdoors paradise. This is a great neighborhood for folks who like lakes. Graham Lake is a lake close at hand; needless to say Bonita Creek is a stunning stream that is worth stopping at. The Sangre De Cristo Mountains scenery is always beautiful. Lakes are great; Rose Lake is a lake that's close to Sawmill Lake, and going for a hike on the Santa Fe Trail is always a glorious adventure. If you came for an overnight stay Cimarron Inn and                  RV Park is a nice place to camp, and after a long day outdoors Econo Lodge Eagle Nest is a great place to spend a night or two. This lake is so wonderful. Sawmill Lake gets very little rainfall; of all the months in a year July is the one with the most rain; the driest of the months is January. Not enough hours in a day to enjoy the Sangre De Cristo Mountains. A tremendous place near Sawmill Lake is Mares Canyon; the view of Cooks Peak is lovely. For the period of the summertime months here at Sawmill Lake, high temperatures regularly reach the 80's. Once the sun is down it drops down to the 40's.
