If you are in this part of New Mexico make sure to pay a visit to Salt Lake. This lake is so wonderful. Salt Lake gets very little rain; the month of August is the wettest with most of the rain, and the driest month is December. While you're here at Salt Lake you can take a hike along the Santa Fe Trail; if time allows, Fort Union National Monument is a national park worth visiting.
