A splendid spot near Prewitt Lake is Train Canyon, and Shuster Spring is an inspiring place to stop by during your stay. Whohoo, so much cool stuff in one place! The Zuni Mountains is so good!. Summertime highs at Prewitt Lake usually tend to be in the 80's, and during summer nights temperatures are in the 50's. High temperatures during the wintertime are normally in the 40's; after the sun is down during the       wintertime temperatures at Prewitt Lake sink into the 10's. At Prewitt Lake you don’t see much rainfall; the month of August is the wettest with most of the rain while June is mostly the driest month. A nice close by hotel is La Quinta Inn & Suites Gallup, and if you're visiting from Gallup, you won't be the only one. This lake is so wonderful. McGaffey Lake Dam is a delightful site close to Prewitt Lake; if time allows, El Morro National Monument is a                  national park worth visiting. If you love the outdoors, you'll go for Prewitt Lake. Camping is available at Quaking Aspen Campground, and a lake nearby is McGaffey Lake. Now, you may believe that's plenty but there's even more entertaining things to do here in the Zuni Mountains. If you came for an overnight stay Nutria Campground is a pleasant place to camp; Best Western Red Rock Inn is a perfect spot to get some rest.
