    If you are in this part of New Mexico make sure to pay a visit to Portales Pond. Portales Pond gets very little precipitation; during the month of August you get the most rain around here while February is the month with the least amount of precipitation. Get yourself into a kayak and hit Rio Santa Cruz, and Dead Dog Well is a nearby lake that you could have a look at. Through the summer at Portales Pond temperatures are ordinarily in the 80's. Throughout the  
   dark hours of summer temperatures dip down into the 50's. The wintertime comes with highs in the 30's with temperatures at Portales Pond dipping down into the 10's through winter nights.
This lake is so wonderful. If you came for an overnight stay Santa Fe Skies Recreational Vehicle Park is a tremendous place to camp, and on a tremendous day you can take a hike along the Cochiti Frijoles Trail. So many entertaining things near Portales Pond, clearly impressive.
 
               There is a good hiking trail in the vicinity of Portales Pond called the Capulin Canyon Trail, and don't miss out on a trip to Santa Fe National Historic Trail if you're here. Do visit Weir Well near Portales Pond, it's a stunning lake, and Ski Santa Fe has glorious slopes and a friendly staff.
This lake is so wonderful. Camping is available at Trailer Ranch, and if you need a place to stay Comfort Inn Santa Fe is a glorious choice. Soar down the rapids of Rio Grande in a kayak; if you're visiting from Santa Fe, you won't be the only one.
The Atalaya Trail is a brilliant hiking trail next to Portales Pond, and a good close by hotel is Sunrise Springs Inn.
