    Portales Pond is a lake worth visiting. Portales Pond is right by the Capulin Canyon Trail; dry warm beds await you at Comfort Inn Santa Fe. High temperatures at Portales Pond through the months of summer are in the 80's. Once the sun is down it plunges down to the 50's. The wintertime brings highs down to the 30's while the cold winter nights at Portales Pond are in the 10's. And that's not all you can do here at Portales Pond. The skiing at Ski Santa Fe is  
   wonderful; if you came for an overnight stay Holy Ghost Group Area - Santa Fe National Forest is a good spot to camp.
This lake is so wonderful. Do check out Heaquarters Well close to Portales Pond, it's a pretty lake. This lake is so wonderful. Don't miss out on a tour to Santa Fe National Historic Trail since you're here at Portales Pond, and the Atalaya Trail offers hiking at its best. Hiking is a popular thing to do around Portales Pond; Cochiti Frijoles
 
               Trail is a pleasant local trail; whitewater paddling is tremendous on Rio Grande.
Paddling on Rio Santa Cruz is so much fun, and camping is available at Trailer Ranch. If you need a location to stay Sunrise Springs Inn is a great choice, and Portales Pond is not far at all from Santa Fe. At Portales Pond you don’t see much precipitation; August is when you get the most rain here while February is the month with the least amount of precipitation.
