Nickles Windmill is a great lake in an area with lots of outdoors fun all around. Skiing at Ski Apache is one of those things you just ought to do, and Swiss Chalet Inn is a fine place to get some rest. This lake is so wonderful. Sands Motel and RV Park is a magnificent campground nearby, and the Barber Springs Trail is a brilliant hiking trail nearby. You just can't imagine the amount of outdoors amusing things the area near Nickles Windmill has to offer.

| | It is very waterless here at Nickles Windmill frequently; of all the months in a year August is the one with the most rain, and the driest of the months is April. The Sacramento Mountains scenery is always beautiful. All the outdoors enjoyable things in the Sacramento Mountains will keep you coming back time and again. A great nearby hotel is Hotel Ruidoso, and close by you hit upon the Oakridge Trail which is a great hiking trail.
