This lake is so wonderful. Why not camp at Sands Motel and RV Park since you're here at Nickles Windmill, and do take a hike on the Carrizo Peak Trail. This lake is one of the great places here in the Sacramento Mountains. Camping at Nickles Windmill is delightful fun, Nogal Lake Campground is a delightful local campground, and after a long day outdoors Hawthorn Suites Golf & Convention       Resort - Ruidoso is a glorious place to spend a night or two. Whohoo, so much entertaining stuff in one place! The Sacramento Mountains is peerless! Since you might be in a lake visiting mood you can always go to nearby Middle Windmill; hiking along the Barber Springs Trail is nice fun. So much enjoyable stuff to do here at Nickles Windmill, too nice to be true. Ski Apache has splendid slopes and a friendly staff. The Lodge at Sierra Blanca is a tremendous                  location to get some rest, and you can have a nice hiking adventure along the Oakridge Trail. Nickles Windmill is commonly a rather waterless location; the month of August is the wettest with most of the rain, and April is when it's the driest. Summer at Nickles Windmill comes with high temperatures in the 90's. When the night sets in temperatures fall down into the 60's.
