    If you are traveling by, why not stop by Mud Lake. Going for a hike on the Old Government Trail is always a magnificent adventure, and Massacre Canyon is another magnificent spot to visit close by. Mud Lake is one of the lakes here in the Black Range. You'll truly wish for more hours in a day to enjoy all the cool things in the Black Range. A spree to Mud Lake wouldn't be complete without taking a look at Geronimo Spring; if you need a place to stay Hot Springs  
   Inn - A Magnuson Hotel is a good choice.
This lake is so wonderful. If you came to camp Emory Pass Vista Campground is a brilliant place to do that, and at Mud Lake you can see Flagpole Mountain. There's so much to do here at Mud Lake that you need to camp here for a while, Wrights Cabin Campground is a wonderful site for that. It is very dry here at Mud Lake ordinarily; August is the month that gets the most rain, and April is the month with the least
 
               moisture.
Throughout the days of summer at Mud Lake temperatures are mostly in the 80's. During the dark hours of summer temperatures fall down into the 40's. For the duration of the wintertime highs are commonly in the 40's, and night lows at Mud Lake all through the winter mostly sink into the 10's.
