This lake is one of the great places here in the San Juan and Jemez Mountains. All the outdoors fun stuff in the San Juan and Jemez Mountains will keep you coming back over and over. There's fine hiking along the San Pedro Mountain Trail, and do stop at Bear Lake, it's a pretty lake. Go for a hike on the River Trail, and Best Western Jicarilla Inn is a wonderful location to get some rest. During the days of summer, highs       ordinarily are in the 80's at Monte Lake. When the night sets in temperatures sink down into the 40's. During the wintertime highs are typically in the 30's with temperatures at Monte Lake dipping down into the 0's during winter nights. Monte Lake gets very little rain; during August this area sees the most rain, and June on the other hand is the driest. This lake is so wonderful.
