If the weather is splendid here at Middleton Lake, you can go for a hike along the Mitten Bar Trail; Baca Campground is a splendid local campground. This lake is so wonderful. A pleasant site to explore near Middleton Lake is West Lucero Canyon, and hiking along the Summit Trail is magnificent fun. Not much precipitation falls here at Middleton Lake; through August this area sees the most rain while January is ordinarily       the driest month. Going for a hike along the Capitan Peak Trail will let you absorb the natural beauty of this area; after a long day outdoors Ruidoso Downs-Days Inn is a good spot to spend a night or two. If you came for an overnight stay Mountain High RV Park is a great spot to camp. For the duration of the warm days of summer, highs usually are in the 90's at Middleton Lake. When the night sets in temperatures descend down into the 60's.
