Mescalero Lake is pretty dried out regularly; the month of August is the wettest with most of the rain; April is the month with the least moisture. Man, is there loads of amusing stuff to do in the Sacramento Mountains. Nearby lakes? Sure, Alto Reservoir is close to Mescalero Lake; if you need a place to stay Comfort Inn Ruidoso is a great choice. This lake is so wonderful. At Mescalero Lake all through the long       summer days highs are in the 90's. Throughout the dark hours of summer temperatures plunge down into the 60's. Through the wintertime this place gets highs in the 50's while Mescalero Lake night low temperatures through the winter are in the 20's. So many amusing things to do at Mescalero Lake, so little time. If you want a little side tour, try Alfred Hale Canyon, and dry warm beds await you at Inn of the Mountain Gods Resort & Casino. You absolutely must                  have a thing about the Sacramento Mountains. Don't leave Mescalero Lake without first going for a hike along the Cedar Creek Trail, unsurprisingly you could also stop by Ruidoso Reservoir since you're here; it's not far at all. There are splendid places to discover along the Perk Ridge Trail, and you can hit the slopes at Ski Apache in close proximity. The Sacramento Mountains scenery is always beautiful. Mescalero Lake is in the vicinity of Lake Mescalero Dam which is a lovely site beyond doubt worth visiting, and if you came for an overnight stay Bonito Sundance RV Park and Campground is a perfect location to camp. This lake is so wonderful.
