This lake is so wonderful. Camping is available at Monument Lake Resort. Take a side tour to Bernal Creek, and there's perfect hiking along the Bernal Trail. At Merrick Lake you don’t see much precipitation; the month of August is the wettest with most of the rain, and January is when it's the driest. Merrick Lake is a beautiful lake in the Sangre De Cristo Mountains. Having a perfect time in the Sangre De       Cristo Mountains is easy. A fine site to camp here at Merrick Lake is McCrystal Creek Campground, and if you need a place to stay Econo Lodge Eagle Nest is a perfect choice. At Merrick Lake all through the warm months highs are in the 80's, and during the night it cools down to the 40's.
