If you are in Lincoln county it's always a good idea to stop by Mayer Windmill. But wait, there's more enjoyable things to do in the Sacramento Mountains. Dry warm beds await you at Hotel Ruidoso, and Mayer Windmill is a good site to visit for more than one day, Mountain Springs Ranch Recreational Vehicle Park is a good site to camp nearby. At Mayer Windmill you don’t see much precipitation; August is when you get the most rain here; the driest month is April.
