    If you are in Rio Arriba county it's always a good idea to stop by Martinez Pond. This lake is located in the wonderful San Juan Mountains. Not much precipitation falls here at Martinez Pond; throughout August this area sees the most rain, and June is when it's the driest. This lake is so wonderful. After a long day outdoors Best Western Jicarilla Inn is a magnificent location to spend a night or two.
And if that's not sufficient there's loads more enjoyable
 
   stuff to do in the San Juan Mountains. You'll need more than a day to discover everything Martinez Pond has to offer, you can camp at Buzzard Park Campground, and you can run the rapids of Navajo River. There's so much to do here at Martinez Pond that you need to camp here for a while, Blanco River Campground is a delightful place for that, and if you need a location to stay Econo Lodge Pagosa Springs is a great choice. Summer at Martinez Pond comes with high  
               temperatures in the 80's. Once the sun is down it drops down to the 40's. The cold days of the winter come with highs in the 30's while Martinez Pond night low temperatures all through the wintertime are in the 0's.
