At Mare Lake during the warm months highs are in the 70's, and through summer nights temperatures are in the 40's. During the wintertime the highs are typically in the 30's; winter nights come with lows in the-10's to Mare Lake. Mare Lake gets very little rainfall; August is the wettest month with most rain; the driest month of the year is January. Aspen Hill is gorgeous and can be seen from Mare Lake, and dry warm       beds await you at Angel Fire Resort. This lake is so wonderful. If time allows, Fort Union National Monument is a national park worth going to; if you came for an overnight stay Sierra Bonita Cabins and RV Park is a tremendous location to camp. Hiking is a popular thing to do around Mare Lake; Santa Fe Trail is a splendid local trail, and why not camp at Cathedral Rock Campground if you're here at Mare Lake. And that's not everything there is to do here                  in the Sangre De Cristo Mountains. Hit the slopes at Angel Fire in the vicinity; if you need a site to stay Econo Lodge Eagle Nest is a fine choice. You clearly should love Mare Lake. A lake nearby is Bear Lake.
