The Sangre De Cristo Mountains is great! If you need a spot to stay Americas Best Value Inn - Raton is a good choice, and there's some out of the ordinary stuff to observe at Dam Number Two next to Laguna Madre. Laguna Madre gets very little precipitation; August is when you get the most rain here; December is when it's the driest. At Laguna Madre during the summertime highs are in the 80's while nighttime lows       are regularly in the 50's. Highs during the winter are usually in the 40's while the cold winter nights at Laguna Madre are in the 10's. This lake is one of the great places here in the Sangre De Cristo Mountains. After a long day outdoors Holiday Inn Express Hotel & Suites RATON is a nice location to spend a night or two, and you can stay the night at Cedar Rail Campground. This lake is so wonderful.
