Lower Vallecito Reservoir is a beautiful lake in the San Juan and Jemez Mountains. Life's too short to enjoy all the enjoyable stuff near Lower Vallecito Reservoir. There's nice hiking along the Padre Alonzo Trail; you can stay the night at Jemez Falls - Santa Fe National Forest. Get yourself into a kayak and hit Jemez River; Jemez Ranger District is worth a visit. This lake is so wonderful. The       Bland Bear Springs Trail offers hiking at its best, and you simply should stop by Cat Mesa while you're here at Lower Vallecito Reservoir. Why not take a look at Lower Vallecito Dam if you're here. There's so much to do here at Lower Vallecito Reservoir that you need to camp here for a while, Paliza Campground is a magnificent place for that. You just can't picture the amount of outdoors enjoyable things the San Juan and Jemez Mountains has to offer.
