There is a glorious hiking trail near Lost Lake called the Whiskey Trail. There's so much to do here at Lost Lake that you need to camp here for a while, Baca Campground is a fine place for that. This lake is so wonderful. A splendid nearby hotel is Ruidoso Downs-Days Inn, and going for a hike on the Capitan Peak Trail is always a great adventure. Around Lost Lake you don’t get a lot of rain; the month with most       of the rain is August, and January on the other hand is the driest. During the summertime highs here at Lost Lake get into the 90's, and all through the night it cools down to the 60's.
