Do stop by Lost Lake while you're in this part of New Mexico. Lost Lake gets very little rain; of all the months in a year August is the one with the most rain, and January is when it's the driest. This lake is so wonderful. Going for a hike on the Capitan Peak Trail is always a brilliant adventure, and if you came for an overnight stay Baca Campground is a delightful spot to camp. Summer brings highs in the 90's to Lost Lake, and throughout summer nights temperatures
are in the 60's. Highs during the wintertime are usually in the 50's with winter lows in the 20's overnight here at Lost Lake.
There is a nice hiking trail in the neighborhood of Lost Lake called the Whiskey Trail. Lost Lake is not the only spot nearby, Galles Lake is a nearby lake, and a great nearby hotel is Ruidoso Downs-Days Inn. You could also stop at Circle Diamond Lake since you're here at Lost Lake; it's close by, and why not camp at Deer Crossing RV Park while you're here at Lost Lake.
