Why not stop by Lightning Lake if you're passing through these parts. A beautiful lake like Sacramento Lake right next door to Lightning Lake is a good place to pop by, and this is a popular spot for people from Alamogordo. At Lightning Lake you don’t see much rainfall; of all the months in a year August is the one with the most rain; the driest month is April. Hubbell Spring is a wonderful location to stop by while you're at Lightning Lake. This lake is so wonderful. Do take a look at Upper Juniper Reservoir close to Lightning Lake, it's a pretty lake, and if you're looking for a perfect visit, White Sands National Monument is pretty near.
