There's so much to do here at Lake McFerren that you need to camp here for a while, Quaking Aspen Campground is a tremendous spot for that. These mountains rock, just look at all the cool stuff to do in the Zuni Mountains. Dry warm beds await you at La Quinta Inn & Suites Gallup, and Lake McFerren is brilliant enough to       spend more than a day at, Red Rock State Park is a brilliant local campground. Through the warmest time of the year at Lake McFerren highs are commonly in the 80's, and during the night it cools down to the 50's. Throughout the wintertime highs are ordinarily in the 40's while Lake McFerren nighttime low temperatures during the                  wintertime are in the 10's. Lake McFerren gets very little rainfall; most of the rain falls through August while June is generally the driest month. There's just no way somebody can get bored here at Lake McFerren.
