Not enough hours in a day to enjoy the Zuni Mountains. After a long day outdoors Best Western Red Rock Inn is a glorious place to spend a night or two, and El Morro National Monument is a brilliant national park. Around Lake McFerren you don’t get a lot of precipitation; through August this area sees the most rain, and June meanwhile is the driest month. Camping is available at Nutria Campground; during your tour here you'll       meet some folks from Gallup for sure. This lake is so wonderful. A pleasant nearby hotel is La Quinta Inn & Suites Gallup; do go to Lost Lake, it's a picturesque lake. A nice place to camp here at Lake McFerren is Quaking Aspen Campground. The Zuni Mountains scenery is always beautiful. Through the months of summer at Lake McFerren temperatures are generally in the 80's while nighttime lows are generally in the 50's.
