Hopewell Lake Campground is a fine local campground, and get soaked paddling on Rio Ojo Caliente. There's no way somebody can get bored here in the San Juan and Jemez Mountains. So many enjoyable things to do in the San Juan and Jemez Mountains, not enough time. Why not camp at El Ritito Campground since you're here at Kiowa Lake; float down the rapids of San Antonio River in       a kayak. Man, is there heaps of cool stuff to do close to Kiowa Lake. From Kiowa Lake you get a magnificent view of Kiowa Mountain, and there are plenty of people from Espanola here. This lake is so wonderful. A stunning lake like Abeyta Lake near Kiowa Lake is a good site to take a look at; the beauty of mother nature reveals herself at McIntyre Spring. Cleveland Gulch is a wonderful site to have a look at next to Kiowa Lake, and you'll find a charming                  lake called Posos Lake. At Kiowa Lake you don’t see much rainfall; the month with most of the rain is August while May is usually the driest month. Through the summer here at Kiowa Lake, high temperatures usually reach the 80's, and during summer nights temperatures are in the 40's.
