Lake Johnson is a beautiful lake in the Sangre De Cristo Mountains. Whohoo, so much enjoyable stuff in one place! The Sangre De Cristo Mountains is great! Head up to Ski Santa Fe and strap some skis to your feet, and whitewater paddling is not for everyone but if it's for you then, we recommend Rio Santa Cruz. Throughout the summer, highs frequently are in the 90's at Lake Johnson, and the night is quite colder of course, typically in the 50's. High temperatures
through the winter are normally in the 40's; after the sun is down during the winter temperatures at Lake Johnson plunge into the 10's.
This lake is so wonderful. There are plenty of folks from Santa Fe here at Lake Johnson, and going for a hike on the Winsor Trail is always a great adventure. Camping is available at Panchuela Campground, and if you need a location to stay Encantado An Auberge Resort is a wonderful choice. You just can't envision the amount

of outdoors entertaining stuff the Sangre De Cristo Mountains has to offer. On a perfect day at Lake Johnson you can take a hike along the Rio Capulin Trail; dry warm beds await you at Bishop's Lodge.
Why not camp at Cowles Campground since you're here at Lake Johnson, and if you get bored of Lake Johnson you could also pop by close by Stewart Lake. This lake is so wonderful. Santa Fe National Historic Trail is a delightful national park, and Redonda peak is painless to spot from Lake Johnson.
Lake Johnson is pretty dry typically; the wettest month of the year is commonly August, that's the one that rains the most, and the driest of the months is February. This place is unbeatable, just check out all the fun stuff to do next to Lake Johnson. There is a fine hiking trail in the neighborhood of Lake Johnson called the Agua Sarca Trail, and Lake Johnson is not the only site close by, Lake Katherine is a close by lake.
