     A perfect site to camp here at John Mills Lake is Buzzard Park Campground; you'll find a delightful lake called Skid Camp Pond. If you need a spot to stay Keyah Grande Resort is a tremendous choice. High temperatures at John Mills Lake throughout the days of summer are in the 80's while night lows are typically in the 40's. The cold days of the winter come with highs in the 30's with temperatures at John Mills Lake dipping down into the 0's during winter nights.
 
   John Mills Lake is typically a relatively dried out place; the month with most of the rain is August, and the driest month is June. John Mills Lake is one of the lakes here in the San Juan and Jemez Mountains. Now, you may think that's a load but there's even more amusing stuff to do here in the San Juan and Jemez Mountains. After a long day outdoors Best Western Jicarilla Inn & Casino is a good site to spend a night or two, and do take a look at Phones Pond, it's  
               a pretty lake.
This lake is so wonderful. Not far from John Mills Lake you acquire some good water scenery at John Mills Lake Dam; if you come at the right time of year, Navajo River offers some tremendous whitewater.
