A visit to Huero Lake is always a good idea. Summer brings highs in the 80's to Huero Lake. For the duration of the moonlight hours it's generally in the 50's. Through the wintertime this place gets highs in the 30's; overnight lows during the winter for Huero Lake tend to be in the 0's. Huero Lake is ordinarily a relatively dehydrated spot; of all the months in a year August is the one with the most rain, and the driest month of the year is February. But wait,

Fork Angostura Trail, and a glorious spot to camp here at Huero Lake is Upper La Junta Campground. The Sangre De Cristo Mountains scenery is always beautiful. Hiking along the North End Trail is nice fun, and camping is available
at Duran Canyon Campground. Now, you may believe that's lots but there's even more cool stuff to do here in the Sangre De Cristo Mountains. Going for a hike along the Kit Carson Trail will let you absorb the natural beauty of this area; the skiing at Angel Fire is tremendous.
