It is very dried up here at Horse Shoe Lake typically; through August this area sees the most rain, and January meanwhile is the driest month. Monte Verde RV Park is a glorious campground here, and there's great hiking along the Burnt Ridge Trail. During the summertime highs here at Horse Shoe Lake reach the 70's, and through the night it cools down to the 40's. The winter comes with highs in the 30's while Horse Shoe       Lake night low temperatures through the wintertime are in the-10's. Not enough hours in a day to enjoy the Sangre De Cristo Mountains. The Kit Carson Trail offers hiking at its best, and visiting Fort Union National Monument is just something you need to do if you haven't yet.
