You definitely have to go for the San Juan and Jemez Mountains. A magnificent place to camp here at Horse Lake is Little Creel Resort, and paddling on Rio Chama is so much fun. These mountains rock, just check out       all the entertaining things to do in the San Juan and Jemez Mountains. Take a hike on the Hart Trail. Lakes? Sure, Turkey Pond is close by. Horse Lake is pretty dried up frequently; the month with most of the rain is August, and the driest month is June. If you need a spot to stay Branding Iron Motel is a good choice, and not far from Horse Lake you'll come across Horse Lake which is a scenic lake. This lake is so wonderful. Why not take a refreshing hike along the Leche Creek Trail; get wet paddling on Navajo River. At Horse Lake through the summer months highs are in the 80's. Summer nighttime lows drop down to the 40's.
