Horse Lake is a lake worth visiting. There's no way anyone can get bored here in the Sangre De Cristo Mountains. You'll need more than a day to explore everything Horse Lake has to offer, you can camp at Pendaries RV Resort, and after a long day outdoors Las Vegas Super 8 Motel is a great location to spend a night or two. During the long summer days highs here at Horse Lake reach the 80's with overnight lows in the 40's. The winter brings highs down to the 40's,

| | and overnight lows at Horse Lake through the winter frequently plunge into the 10's. This lake is so wonderful. You could also check out Tree Lake if you're here at Horse Lake; it's close by; good hiking is available along the Gascon Trail. Dry warm beds await you at Best Western Montezuma Inn & Suites, and do stop by Red Lake La Cueva Dam Number Two while you're here. location to camp nearby. What a place this is for outdoors people. Fort Union National Monument is a great site near Horse Lake, and you can go for a hike on the Santa Fe Trail. Horse Lake is generally a quite dried out spot; all through July this area sees the most rain, and the driest month of the year is January.
