This lake is so wonderful. There's so much to do here at Heron Reservoir that you need to camp here for a while, Stone House Lodge is a good place for that, and paddling on Rio Chama is so much fun. Thompson Lake is a good lake right next door to Heron Reservoir, and Heron Dam is a delightful site. At Heron Reservoir you don’t see much rainfall; the month with most of the rain       is August while June is the month with the least amount of precipitation. Heron Reservoir is located in the San Juan and Jemez Mountains. Just can't get enough of the San Juan and Jemez Mountains. There are other places here than Heron Reservoir, for example El Vado Reservoir; if you need a site to stay Branding Iron Motel is a fine choice. High temperatures at Heron Reservoir during the days of summer are in the 80's while nighttime lows are mostly in the                  40's. Through the winter the highs are regularly in the 30's while the cold winter nights at Heron Reservoir are in the 0's. And if that's not sufficient there's loads more cool things to do in the San Juan and Jemez Mountains. It's a tremendous idea to stop by Horse Lake Creek, it's close to Heron Reservoir. There are delightful sites to explore along the Hart Trail, and a delightful close by hotel is Best Western Jicarilla Inn. If only every site had this much outdoors entertaining things, what a great globe it would be.
