A round of golf at nearby Red Eagle Golf Course is a great way to kill some time, and a good close by hotel is Best Western River's Edge. After a long day outdoors Adobe and Stars Inn is a great
place to spend a night or two; what would winter be without some skiing at Red River.
This lake is so wonderful. If you came to camp Cabresto Lake Campground is a nice place to do that, and in case you don’t mind getting wet, you can always go whitewater paddling on Rio Grande. This lake is so wonderful. You'll stumble on a delightful lake called South Latir Lake near Heart Lake, and Heart Lake is great enough to spend more than a day at, Fawn Lakes Campground

is a great local campground. Don't forget to take a great little journey to Bull Creek, and there is a great hiking trail nearby called the Number 3 Lift Trail.
The warmest time of the year at Heart Lake arrives with high temperatures in the 80's; the nighttime is rather chillier of course, frequently in the 40's. Daytime highs all through the winter are in the 30's; during the dark hours in the winter at Heart Lake temperatures sink to the 0's. Lakes are such peaceful spots, why not visit Latir Lakes near Heart Lake, and going for a hike on the Lost Lake Trail is always a delightful adventure. You can observe Baldy Mountain from Heart Lake.
Heart Lake is commonly a rather dried out place; the wettest month of the year is mostly August, that's the one that rains the most; January on the other hand is the driest.

Latir Lakes
28 years ago as a 16 year/old Eagle Scout I was introduced to Latir. The pristine, grandure and soulful solitude of the Latir inspired me greatly. Last year I finally returned to Latir with my wife and 4 daughters. We found greatfully NOTHING had changed!!!! We spent 6 days exploring, fishing, and bonding. One entire afternoon was spent at Lake #7 shouting echoes to each other. Skip the plastic commericial touristy stuff...go to Latir!!!!...

...t or explore the side of a vast mountain that has been opened up for skiing and snowboarding, but not tamed. Taos combines the warm ambiance of a small European-style village nestled at the base of a great mountain, a superb ski school and an ambiance founded on the classic pleasures of skiing and snowboarding. Taos blends its high elevation and arid desert climate to provide skiers with the perfect conditions; light dry snow and bright sunshine. From the famed steeps to gentle bowls, Taos' terrain appeals to the super-expert and the beginner alike. With a peak elevation of 11,819 feet, a base of 9,207 feet and 1,294 acres of ski trails, Taos offers varied and challenging terrain to delight skiers of all abilities.
One of Taos' most enduring ski traditions is the steep skiing off The Ridge. This requires a hike of anywhere from 10 minutes to one hour to get to these ''extreme, double-diamond'' runs. The reward is the best ''steep and deep'' skiing in America and a chance to experience off piste skiing. While many resorts have traded in their personality for large-scale developme...
