So much cool stuff to do in the San Juan Mountains, not sufficient time. A good location close to Hatch Lake is Mahan Canyon. This place, the San Juan Mountains, has so much outdoors exciting things. Hatch Lake is a glorious site to camp, Clear Creek Campground is a glorious site, and going for a hike on the San Jose Trail is always a good adventure. At Hatch Lake during the summertime highs are       in the 80's. Throughout the dark hours of summer temperatures dip down into the 40's. All through the winter highs are generally in the 30's with winter lows in the 0's overnight here at Hatch Lake. San Jose Creek is a stream that you may come across while you're here, and you can go for a hike on the San Pedro Mountain Trail. And if that's not sufficient, there's a load more to do close to Hatch Lake. Dry warm beds await you at Best Western Jicarilla                  Inn, and the beauty of mother nature reveals herself at Hatch Spring. Nacimiento Campground is a tremendous campground here; do stop at Williams Lake, it's a wonderful lake. Around Hatch Lake you don’t get a lot of rainfall; the wettest month of the year is commonly August, that's the one that rains the most; the driest of the months is June. This lake is so wonderful. You don’t have to go far from Hatch Lake to catch a sight of the water at Hatch Reservoir Dam; there is a good hiking trail nearby called the River Trail.
