Hale Lake is good enough to spend more than a day at, Sacramento Mountain Retreat is a good local campground; dry warm beds await you at Lodge at Cloudcroft. This lake is so wonderful. There's so much to do here at Hale Lake that you need to camp here for a while, James Canyon Campground is a good site for that. A common amount of rainfall       falls here at Hale Lake; August is when you get the most rain here, and the driest month is April. These mountains rock, just check out all the entertaining things to do in the Sacramento Mountains. A trip to McDonald Flat invigorates the soul, and since you might be in a lake visiting mood you can always pop by nearby Covel Lake. Summertime brings highs in the 70's to Hale Lake.
