McDonald Flat is a great place to check out; after a long day outdoors Lodge at Cloudcroft is a brilliant place to spend a night or two. At Gowen Lake during the warmest time of the year highs are in the 70's. Once the sun is down it plunges down to the 40's. The winter comes with highs in the 40's with winter lows in the 10's overnight here at Gowen Lake. This lake is so wonderful. Gowen       Lake is a perfect place to camp, Sacramento Mountain Retreat is a perfect place. Now, you may believe that's loads but there's even more entertaining stuff to do here in the Sacramento Mountains. Camping at Gowen Lake is brilliant fun, James Canyon Campground is a brilliant local campground, and there are other spots here than Gowen Lake, for example Allen Lake. From a rain point of view Gowen Lake is a quite typical site; the wettest month of the year is mostly                  August, that's the one that rains the most, and April meanwhile is the driest month.
