    If you are in Rio Arriba county it's always a good idea to stop by El Vado Reservoir. Man, is there loads of fun things to do in the San Juan Mountains. Dry warm beds await you at Brazos Lodge & Rentals, and whitewater paddling is magnificent on Rio Chama. For the period of the summer months highs here at El Vado Reservoir reach the 80's with night lows in the 40's. High temperatures all through the wintertime are normally in the 30's while El Vado Reservoir  
   night low temperatures through the winter are in the 0's. Man, is there a load of exciting things to do near El Vado Reservoir. On a pleasant day at El Vado Reservoir you can take a hike along the Hart Trail.
The San Juan Mountains scenery is always beautiful. El Vado Reservoir is a glorious place to camp, Stone House Lodge is a glorious place; paddling on Rio Chama is so much fun. El Vado Reservoir is generally a quite dried out spot; August is when you get
 
               the most rain here, and the driest of the months is June.
This lake is so wonderful. Not far from El Vado Reservoir you acquire some glorious water scenery at El Vado Dam, and Cooper Arroyo is one of the streams close by that might be worth visiting. If you need a site to stay Lodge At Chama is a tremendous choice, and Herron Store is a magnificent campground here.
