    If you like lakes and you're in this part of New Mexico you can check out East Lake. This lake is so wonderful. Places like Foxtail Flats are magnificent to take a look at, and Mom and Pop RV Park is a magnificent local campground. This lake is located in the wonderful Mesa Verde. You just can't envision the amount of outdoors exciting stuff the Mesa Verde has to offer. If you came for an overnight stay River Grove RV Park is a great place to camp, and perfect  
   hiking is available along the Wheeler Trail.
Having a good time in the Mesa Verde is simple. Why not have a look at nearby Craig Arroyo if you're here at East Lake, and East Lake is not the only site close by, Meadows Reservoir is a close by lake. East Lake gets very little rain; most of the rain falls all through August, and June is the month with the least moisture. Having a perfect time at East Lake is uncomplicated. Get your pulse rate up on the glorious
 
               whitewater of San Juan River; if you've had enough of East Lake, Fourmile Reservoir is close by.
After a long day outdoors La Quinta Inn Farmington is a delightful place to spend a night or two, and nearby The Narrows is a good place to go. This lake is so wonderful. There are plenty of people from Farmington here at East Lake; you can run the rapids of Animas River.
Ute Dome is a peak you can catch a sight of from East Lake, and a perfect nearby hotel is The Region Inn. Summertime highs at East Lake mostly tend to be in the 80's with overnight lows in the 50's. For the period of the wintertime the highs are generally in the 30's, and overnight lows at East Lake during the wintertime mostly descend into the 10's.

Mormon Reservoir

The Mormon Reservoir is located on Hay gulch stream before it flows into La Plata River. In the late 1920's the Mormon Church in Utah paid to have the damn across Hay Gulch constructed for the Mormon village of Red Mesa. Water is stored in the reservoir until it is needed for farmers at Red Mesa. The water is released into the La Plata River and is measured for agricultural purposes during the drier part of the summer. Young men from Red Mesa built frame buildings on the rocky and wooded west hillside going into Hay Gulch. Until the damn was completed the workers stayed in these dwellings. All of the work on the earthen damn was done by hand and horse drawn equipment. Dynamite was used to blast boulders used on the damn to hold the water in place until needed. The impounded water becomes undrinkable by early summer when it has a strong odor. Water dogs (salamanders) and tadpoles become prolific as the summer advances.
